Chesapeake Map

From high-tech electronics to nature's beauty, as seen in the lone, water-loving cypress tree growing in Lake Drummond (Great Dismal Swamp National Wildlife Refuge) to the right, Chesapeake is a city full of vitality. The city is consistently ranked by the FBI as being among the lowest in crime among cities of over 150,000 population. We've collected a few of Chesapeake's attractions in the list below. We can provide tours of any attraction within the city of Chesapeake, including Lake Drummond and the Great Dismal Swaup Wildlife Refuge.

The map below will lead you to some of Chesapeake's important destinations, but be sure to check our Hampton Roads tourism links for many, many more.

A cab from Andy's Taxi Group can take you to the Chesapeake Planetarium Chesapeake Planetarium The Chesapeake Planetarium has been in operation for over 35 years. Construction of the facility was funded by the Chesapeake School Board under a grant from the National Defense Education Act. The planetarium, shown at the right, is the only one in the state built by a public school system, and is open to both students and the public.

Great Dismal Swamp National Wildlife Refuge Great Dismal Swamp National Wildlife Refuge is located in southeastern Virginia (Chesapeake and Suffolk) and northeastern North Carolina. There is a 1 mile hiking/biking trail from the park's Western side following the Washington Ditch, constructed by George Washington to drain and clear swamp land, and leading in to lake Drummond. Boat and canoe tours are available on the lake. See the Web Site for many additional hiking, biking, boating and wildlife observation options.

Chesapeake Conference Center 20,000-square-foot, fully carpeted Presidential Ballroom--Virginia's largest. 2.9 meeting/banquet rooms designed for maximum flexibility. State-of-the-art audio/visual and lighting systems. 340 free parking spaces on site. Within walking distance of 650 hotel rooms (350 adjacent). Chesapeake City Park This 75-acre site at 500 Greenbrier Parkway has 45 acres of open space with the remainder rows of reforested pine trees. Fees pertain only to reservations and not to drop-in use. City Park is the location of Chesapeake Skate Park and the site of the annual Chesapeake Jubilee. A comfort station and concession building are new additions. On three acres of City Park is Chesapeake Fun Forest, the ultimate children's playground, imagination center and family adventure area!

The Great Bridge Lock Park Visit this 19 acre wooded park to learn about the intercoastal waterway, admire the luxury yachts that constantly come through the locks, study the hydraulic engineering used to let boats navigate what would be whitewater and falls without the locks, or just enjoy a picnic in the idyllic wooded setting.

Chesapeake Agricultural Producer's Association Interested in agriculture? Here are a collection of area farms showcasing agricultural technology and hosting tours. Many have special areas of interest to young children as well.
