There are many fine national chain outlets in the area, but these are so well known, and so well covered in existing web sites, that we have concentrated on the less visible and more unique local offerings in the culinary arts. Frank's Trucking Center at 4717 West Military Highway is a landmark on the South Military Highway. Over the last 50 years, Frank's restaurant has grilled a lot of burgers and scrambled a lot of eggs to earn our reputation for excellent food. Open 24 hours daily. 757-488-8337.

Alexander’s & Riverwalk Café at the Sheraton Norfolk Waterside Hotel, 777 Waterside Drive, is a bistro-style restaurant with both indoor and outdoor dining and a great view if the Elizabeth River. Open daily 6:30am-1:30 am. 757-622-2868.
